Production Overview
Project
Mustard Man Productions, Canvas Films and Cineworks, will produce a music video for the winner of The Chili Pepper "Beauty and the Beats" / Battle of the Bands competition.
Goal of the Music Video Giveaway
The goal of the event/competition is three-fold:
- To discover exciting and exceptional musical talent with promising prospects for a professional music career;
- To produce a music video that can be used by the group as a calling card for music producers, record labels, A & R Representatives and others in the music industry to whom the group may distribute the finished work to promote the group;
- To produce a music video that will be submitted to MTV/VH1 and any other electronic musical venue that can serve as an opportunity to promote and launch a career in the music industry with an eye toward commercial/mainstream recognition.
Overview
The Chili Pepper and Mustard Man Productions will be promoting the production of a music video for the project as described below.
The Competition
Bands from across the State, with an emphasis in South Florida, will be chosen to participate in each of the weekly contests, consisting of 4 acts per week. Music critics and industry experts will be the judges during each week's competition.
- The event will take place during a five-week period, commencing on Friday, July 27th and continuing for each Friday thereafter.
- One winner from each week's competition will participate in a Grand Finale Battle of the Bands Playoff to be held on Friday, August 24th.
- The winning group will play as an "Opening Act" for a national headline act that will perform at The Chili Pepper on Friday, August 31st. Headline Act to be announced.
The Judges
Ideally, the panel of judges will be active members of the music community. These individuals will be professionals and/or experts in their respective, related fields. They will have a professional interest in the music community at large and possess a keen interest in participating in an event that helps to discover exciting new musical talent and a connection, interest or desire in helping to launch an act's musical career.
For each Friday night event of the competition, the composition of the group of judges might consist of the following: 1 music critic (newspaper), 1 record label rep., 1 celebrity, 1 (musical) talent agent, 1 member of the local entertainment TV media, 1 member of the local radio broadcast industry. Note: Depending upon participation, members could conceivably serve as a judge for succeeding weeksto be determined.
Production Schedule Overview
At the producer's discretion, the music video may consist of a 3 to 4 day shoot.
The shooting days/schedule are as follows:
Friday, August 24ththis is the Grand Finale Night of the Battle of the Bands Playoff(the winning group will be part of this performance); at discretion of producer, this is an optional night of shootingmay be good for a "longer format video" to capture images that the producers deem appropriate and suitable for other use as well in the final music video, such as backstage scenes, band(s) setup, etc.
- On this night the winning group will be announced.
Week of August 27th / Three Shooting Days this Week
